Optometric Historical Society
Members of the Board of Directors of the Optometric Historical Society (OHS) and Optometry Cares – The AOA Foundation recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding that places OHS under the auspices of Optometry Cares. We hope that this arrangement will result in a more widespread distribution of historical documents and in fortifying efforts to preserve optometric history.
OHS began 40 years ago as a brainchild of Dr. Henry Hofstetter and a few other dedicated optometrists. It has had a low profile for these past four decades. We are publishing a series of historical vignettes so that OHS members and those interested in optometric history can learn more about what went before us.
If you are interested in joining Optometric Historical Society, please send a $25 check (made payable to the Optometric Historical Society, with your mailing address and e-mail address) and the Membership Application to:
243 N. Lindbergh Blvd., Floor 1
St. Louis, MO 63141-7881The dues payment includes 2013 membership and a quarterly publication of optometric historical materials.
We welcome and solicit your comments. If you have suggestions or ideas for future stories, please send an e-mail to Optometry Cares – The AOA Foundation.
