Endowed Scholarships
Endowed scholarships can be established to provide lasting annual scholarships for optometry students. One of the earliest endowed gifts to Optometry’s Charity™ was a scholarship fund established through a bequest from the late Seymour Galina, O.D., long-time AOA member. The Foundation manages the endowment by investing the original gift and then using the earnings to fund the $2,500 Dr. Seymour Galina Scholarship Grant in perpetuity.
The minimum amount required to establish an endowed scholarship is $25,000. The income from such a fund provides a scholarship of about $1,000 for one student. The initial contribution can be paid over a period of up to five years and may be named to honor an individual or company.
If interested in establishing a new endowed scholarship or contributing to an existing endowment, please e-mail the Foundation and a Foundation staff member will contact you.
If you are interested in applying for one or more of Optometry’s Charity™ endowed scholarship grants, please see the 2010 Scholarship Grant Information or contact the Foundation for more information.
