Endowed Scholarships
Endowed scholarships can be established to provide lasting annual scholarships for optometry students. One of the earliest endowed gifts to Optometry Cares – The AOA Foundation was a scholarship fund established through a bequest from the late Seymour Galina, O.D., long-time AOA member. The Foundation manages the endowment by investing the original gift and then using the earnings to fund the $2,500 Dr. Seymour Galina Scholarship Grant in perpetuity.
The minimum amount required to establish an endowed scholarship is $25,000. The income from such a fund provides a scholarship of about $1,000 for one student. The initial contribution can be paid over a period of up to five years and may be named to honor an individual or company.
If interested in establishing a new endowed scholarship or contributing to an existing endowment, please e-mail the Foundation and a Foundation staff member will contact you.
If you are interested in applying for one of Optometry Cares’ endowed scholarship grants, please see the 2011 Scholarship Grant Information or contact the Foundation for more information.
